About Us

In Ruamrudee International School, the choir provides opportunity to talented students who desire to improve their singing ability, muscianship and challenge themselves with a more difficult choral repertoire. Periodically, the director holds auditions for new members who need to train with the group until they can be accepted as regular members. In its long history, famous singers within the Kingdom of Thailand have hailed from the Jeremiah Singers, who also act as Ruamrudee International School's singing ambassadors to the community at large.

History

The Jeremiah Singers can trace its history back to the 1970s when it began as a humble church choir with Mrs. Marcelina A. Sawatsewi as its founding director. Back then, the repertoire was mostly pop and folk songs, nevertheless the group's popularity and prestige rose as hotels and other places requested them for performances. Their Christmas Caroling is a much-awaited event each year. Likewise, the Jeremiah Singers are often invited to perform for corporate functions like conferences, exhibits, parties and shows.

Since 1991, the choral group has been under the tutelage of Mr. Jose L. Librodo. At this point the choir started to expand the range of its repertoire. Now the Jeremiah Singers is well known and has developed a high standard in a cappella singing. The choice of music that the choir performs is eclectic, ranging from vocal music of the Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic and Contemporary periods. The singers favor vocal jazz arrangements, gospel and spirituals as well as novelties. The choir has joined festivals in and out of the country and continues to delight audiences with dazzling repertoire of Western, ethnic and regional choral music.
